Do you charge for an initial visit?

No, there is no charge for the initial consultation.

At what age do you start seeing patients?

 The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that all children be seen for the first time by age 7.

Why do you evaluate patients so young?

The purpose of early evaluation is often just to inform and observe. At this young age, growth and eruptive patterns can be assessed. Eventual needs may be identified and discussed. Some of these young patients may require some form of early orthodontic intervention. 

How long will the first visit take?

You can expect your initial consultation to take approximately an hour. This will allow time for diagnostic records including photos, X-rays and a digital scan to be gathered. Dr. Pawlak will then complete the orthodontic clinical exam and review recommended treatment or recall schedule.

Do you take patients transferring from out of town?

Out-of-town transfers are handled on a case by case basis. We ask that you bring all records from your previous orthodontist. Progress records will also be taken in office for Dr. Pawlak to determine the best course of action moving forward.

Do you have any adult patients?

Absolutely! In fact, a growing percentage of orthodontic patients are adults. Our aesthetic appliance options make adult treatment much more comfortable and convenient. 

What is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist?

Following 4 years of dental school, Dr. Pawlak completed a 33 month orthodontic residency program, obtaining a certificate in orthodontics.  In addition, Dr. Pawlak received her Master of Science for her research conducted during her residency program.

Can I make all my appointments before or after school ?

In order to have early and late appointments available for the majority of our patients, some longer procedures need to be accomplished between the hours of 9 and 3. We will do our best to work with your schedule and accommodate your family’s needs.

Do you see patients for emergencies?

Can we make interest-free  payments?

Yes, we offer interest-free payment plans to our self-pay and insurance patients. 

How do you handle insurance?

After verification of coverage, we agree to bill and collect from your in-network insurance carrier. However, if coverage ceases or changes, you are is still responsible for the agreed upon fee.

Do you take American Express, Master Card and/or Visa?

Yes, we accept all major credit cards.

Do you have automatic debit?

Yes, we can set up automatic payments from a checking account or credit card.

Do you give family discounts?

Yes, we offer a family/multiple patient discount.

Do retainers need to be worn after braces?

Yes, retainers are worn full-time for the first 6 months post-treatment followed by indefinite nighttime wear.

Why do teeth get crooked after wearing braces or aligners?

Teeth can move throughout life due to a variety of factors whether you have worn braces or not.  This is why nightly retainer wear is recommended indefinitely to maintain your orthodontic results over your  lifetime.
